‘If a man’s offering is a sacrifice of peace offerings, if he offers an animal from the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord.
The peace offering (shelamim) works differently from the burnt or sin offerings around it - it's not entirely consumed on the altar. The fat and organs go to God, a portion goes to the priest, but most of the meat goes back to the person who brought it, to be eaten as a meal. It's the one sacrifice in this opening section that ends in a shared table rather than complete surrender - fellowship, not just atonement.
